Upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11

You can download and install Windows 11 from the Windows Update utility in Windows 10. However, before you start, use “PC Health Check” to see if your PC can run Windows 11.

PC Heaklth Check: Download and install the PC Health Check app from Microsoft. If you have the latest version of Windows 10, with all updates, you may already have the app installed.

1. Select Start, type Windows Update, and then select Windows Update settings.

2. Select Check for updates.

3. If the Windows 11 update is available, Upgrade to Windows 11 is ready—and it’s free! is displayed. Select Download and install.

4. Read through the Software License Terms and then select Accept and install.

5. Restart the computer when prompted.

Minimum System Requirements for Windows 11

However, as far as minimum requirements to run Windows 11 go, they’re very similar to Windows 10 minimum requirements with a few key differences.

• CPU: 1+ gigahertz processor with two or more cores that’s compatible with 64-bit operating systems
• Memory: 4 gigabytes or more
• Storage: 64 gigabytes or more
• Graphics: DirectX 12 or later compatible GPU with support for Windows Display Driver Model 2.0
• Display Resolution: 720p or greater
• Internet Connection: Required for setup and updates alongside a Microsoft account

Free Wndows 11 Installation

You can update to Windows 11 for free if you’re a consumer with a legally purchased copy of Windows 10 and satisfy the system requirements. If you don’t already have a copy of Windows 10, you can buy Windows 11 Home and Pro licenses.

Get Windows 11 for ‘free’ when you buy a new PC

If you’re buying a new PC, you’re almost certainly going to get it with Windows 11 included, so if you don’t want to buy a Windows license and don’t have an upgradeable PC, this might be the best way. Alternatively, you can look for Windows 10 PCs and use their valid key to update to Windows 11 for free using the above methods.
